HEU students feature in 17 events in Sports Gala

LAHORE : Hundreds of Home Economics University (HEU) students participated in as many as 17 sports disciplines including athletics, badminton, tug-of-war, basketball etc during the Annual Sports Gala on Wednesday.

DG Sports Punjab Dr Asif Tufail was the chief guest on this occasion. He distributed medals and trophies among the prominent performers of the sports gala. Principal Home Economics University Dr Faleeha Kazmi, Principal Civil Lines College, Sardar Gurvinderpal Singh from USA, Assistant Director Sports Rabia Kareem and other officials were also present on this occasion. Addressing the ceremony, Dr Asif Tufail said that Nishtar Park Complex has international level sports facilities and female players of Home Economics University can utilise these facilities. “Sports Board Punjab has also conducted Pink Games for women and 10 out of the 18 games in the Annual Sports Calendar are also for women players. We are also organising women sports events in the ongoing Rising Punjab Games”.

Meanwhile, Dr Asif Tufail visited Institute of Sports Sciences Punjab (ISSP) to inspect proceedings of 6-day Level-1 Coaching Certification Course at Punjab Stadium on Wednesday.

During his visit, Dr Asif Tufail interacted with all participating coaches and took their feedback about the quality of lectures in the coaching course. ISSP Principal Ms Chand Parveen, Chief Instructor Hafeez Bhatti, Instructors Ms Shaista Qaiser, Sajid Ali and Malik Nasir were also present on this occasion. Talking to coaches, Dr Asif Tufail said that ISSP is playing a key role in spreading valuable information and modern techniques among the local coaches.

“These high profile courses are being organised to enhance and polish the coaching abilities of our coaches as per requirements of the modern era”.
