COAS asks nation to join hands in war against terror

RAWALPINDI: The Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), General Raheel Sharif, on Wednesday asked the nation to join hands in the war against terrorism.
He made these remarks during his visit to the newly- established National Counter Terrorism Training Centre in Pabbi Hills.The army chief said the armed forces had resolved to cleanse the country from all kinds of terrorism and added that cooperation by the people in identifying suspects was critical.
“We have resolved to cleanse Pakistan from all kinds of terrorism, let us join hands, military operations must continue fearlessly,” he said.The first batch of the law enforcement agencies has been trained by the army, Director General ISPR Major General Asim Saleem Bajwa tweeted on the social media.
The COAS said the army was doing its best to train all law enforcement agencies and build their capacity to chase terrorists out of their hideouts, whether urban or in remote areas. “While the army trains to fight terrorists, coordinated intelligence mechanism is must to pre-empt terrorist attacks,” he added.
General Raheel, who was impressed by the training, said that such training would help rid Pakistan of terrorism.A batch of 500 security personnel have completed anti-terrorist training, including 200 personnel from police and the Elite Force from the provinces, 200 personnel from the FC/Rangers, Strategic Plan Division (SPD), Anti Narcotics Force (ANF) and 100 ex-Pakistan Air Force and Pakistan Navy personnel.Senior military and police leadership and home secretaries from the provinces were also present on the occasion.
