ISLAMABAD: Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari claimed on Thursday his party would make the next government with the help of independents, and Nawaz Sharif would have to sit on the opposition benches.

Talking informally to journalists in Naushero Feroz, he said, “we are keeping an eye at the independent candidates, and all working has been done in this regard.” He said “if we form the government, Nawaz Sharif will become the opposition leader”. He said Asif Ali Zardari [his father and seasoned politicians] would become more active after the election.

Bilawal Bhutto said “Nawaz Sharif thinks that he will come to government by making an impression; but this will not happen, the victory will be for the people, and victory will be for the PPP.” He said he was contesting elections for the sole purpose of people’s development.

The PPP chairman said people would make him the next prime minister to fight poverty and unemployment.

Earlier, addressing a public meeting at Tharu Shah Chowk bypass in Naushero Feroz, the PPP chairman said his party’s election manifesto was ‘People’s economic agreement’, to eradicate inflation, unemployment, and poverty from the country.

The PPP chairman noted that 50 per cent of schools in Sindh were destroyed due to floods, adding, “After my persistent efforts, the Centre had agreed to fund the reconstruction of those schools.

However, progress is slow due to the caretaker governments. If you support the PPP on February 8, we will rebuild our schools. I have learned that there is no university in Naushero Feroz, we will establish one.”

Later on, addressing an election rally at Mehar town in Dadu district Thursday evening, PPP Chairman Bilawal-Bhutto Zardari urged the nation to give him an opportunity to serve as the prime minister only for once, and not for four times.

“Today, for the first time, that lion has been spotted somewhere, and I’m going back to Punjab tomorrow to hunt it,” he added.

“Lion sucks the blood of people and hides in its den instead of hunting itself,” he launched his attack on Nawaz Sharif metaphorically. He said he was going to Punjab, and he would tell the people of south Punjab that the PPP was ready to hunt the ‘lion’. He said: “Jiyalas know better how to hunt the Lion.”
