Six white African lion cubs born at Bahria Town’s DanZoo

Six white African lion cubs were born at Pakistan’s first zoo of international standards, the DanZoo in Bahria Town, Karachi. This is the highest number of white African lion cubs ever born at any zoo in South Asia.

The management and veterinary staff of the DanZoo, and the fraternity of animal lovers at large have received with joy the news of the rare birth of sextuplets to a pair of white African lions named Aaria and Drego.

The cubs were born around two weeks ago, each of them weighing a kilogramme. The cubs have had a very healthy growth, as each of them now weighs three kilograms. All six cubs are male.

The birth of the sextuplets reflects the hard work of the veterinary staff, doctors and caretakers at the DanZoo. They take complete care of the food, nutritional, health examination and treatment needs of all the zoo animals. The zoo caretakers ensure cleanliness and maintenance of all animal enclosures.

Earlier, several deer cubs and bird chicks of different species were born at the zoo, while the birth of giraffe and leopard cubs was an important increase in the captive animal populations at the DanZoo.

With its beautiful environment, the DanZoo is home to giraffes, African lions, Bengal tigers, other tigers, leopards, Asian black bears, different species of deer, peacocks, ostriches, emus, ducks of all species, and swans. Nightingales, parrots, macaws, doves and sparrows can also be found in the zoo’s attractive aviary.

Spread over 7,070 acres, the DanZoo has intelligently been divided into sections with interesting names related to different animal breeds.The zoo comprises vast animal enclosures built to provide a healthy and clean environment to the captive animals that resemble their natural habitats.

The ‘Tour de DanZoo’ is an electric cart train operated to give a guided tour to the zoo visitors. A boating club and lake are also part of the zoo. The entire facility is equally entertaining and recreational for people belonging to all age groups.
