Swat people trained in disaster preparedness

The main objective of the workshops was to make people aware of disasters

MINGORA: CRA (Community Resilience Activity North) has completed disaster preparedness planning training workshops for the people of Madyan’s three villages, Paklai, Cherbet, and Shagai.

The first workshop lasted five days and the second was for three days. According to the organizers, 60 people including 45 men and 15 women. from the three villages of Madyan participated in the training.

The objective was to prepare and plan for disaster and hazard prevention so that these people can protect their areas from various natural calamities.Apart from this, training was given on taking steps to reduce the concerns, checking the concerns, and comprehensive planning for the same. The organizers said in the first workshop, the participants were told about disasters and how to be safe from disaster risks. Then they were given field visits to places where risks were high. A report was prepared for each village and a village developing plan was drawn up.

The main objective of the workshops was to make people aware of disasters. Emergency committees were formed at the village level so that future threats could be dealt with.On the last day of the workshop, Rescue 1122 Emergency Officer Malik Sherdil Khan and Bahrain Assistant Commissioner Secretary Karim Baksh turned up at the activity.

They reviewed all the workshops from the CRA, the work done on risks, and guided the participants. The officials appreciated this initiative of the CRA and hoped that after this training workshop, the people here would be able to take timely measures to be safe from future threats and possibly prevent threats.
