Rs750m contracts awarded for beautification of rural areas
Rawalpindi:The District Council Rawalpindi awarded a tender of Rs750 million for the beautification work of rural areas here on Friday.
The locals of several rural areas were deprived even of paths for pedestrians. Chief Officer (CO) District Council Rawalpindi Kamran Khan has awarded work to clean image private contractors and directed them to complete repairing and beautification work of rural areas within a given time frame otherwise strict action will be taken against them.
After getting the contract, the private contractors with the directions of the Chief Officer (CO) District Council also called ‘Zila Council’ have started repair and other miscellaneous works. Dozens of private contractors applied for contracts but the concerned department only considered clean image contractors to start public welfare works in all localities of Rawalpindi district.
The Chief Officer (CO) of District Council, Rawalpindi Kamran Khan told ‘The News’ that they have awarded a tender of Rs750 million to clean image contractors. The public money will be spent on public welfare works. This money will be spent on repairing dilapidated roads, broken street lights, footpaths, streets, broken boundary walls, renovating public parks, and public toilets, and beautification of several rural areas in the limits of the whole Rawalpindi district, he said.
He said that corrupt and blackmailer private contractors are fully trying to derail the system but we will not spare them at any cost. “We will never consider bad image contractors in future also,” he warned.
Executive Engineer (XEN) Zulqarnain Shah said that they are encouraging clean image contractors. We will never bear any kind of corruption and mismanagement in this public welfare project, he warned.
District Council has also formulated a strategy named ‘Beautiful Rural Areas’ to beautify the rural areas with facilities. The whole infrastructure needed to be renovated here in several rural areas of Rawalpindi. The locals of rural areas appreciated the Punjab government for allowing the start of repair and renovation work of rural areas in the limits of District Council, Rawalpindi.
