LALAMUSA: Former Adviser to the Prime Minister on Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan and PPP leader Qamar Zaman Kaira has said that the prevailing concern among citizens centers on electoral conditions and the broader state of our nation.

He expressed these views while addressing a political gathering at Bhurach Basoha in Ladian. “Pervasive worry casts shadows, questioning the roadmap to rectifying our nation’s woes.

Regrettably, our political landscape has become a breeding ground for animosity, wherein we transgress the bounds of civility. A poignant realization is that while we vociferously criticise those in power, we seldom introspect on the genesis of their authority,” he added.

He said, “It is the collective voice of Pakistanis that resonates, shaping our nation’s destiny. Through our ballots, we entrust representatives with the monumental task of governing, yet our choices sometimes waver on superficial biases rather than merit.

It’s imperative to discern beyond partisan affiliations and evaluate a candidate’s competence earnestly. For a nation to rejuvenate, its leadership cannot be marred by ineptitude. It’s incumbent upon us to elect competent representatives. Mere prayers won’t usher in salvation; proactive choices will.

Contrastingly, progressive nations have excised the venom of animosity from their sociopolitical fabric. They meticulously evaluate candidates based on merit and vision, transcending biases. Today, a prevalent discourse ponders whether a virtuous leader naturally begets an efficient cabinet.”

Reflecting upon Imran Khan’s tenure, he asked despite his rallying cry for change, did his reign catalyze transformative progress? Did the specter of corruption recede under his stewardship?
