Mardan mayor calls for action against ‘delinquent’ officials
MARDAN: Mayor Himayatullah Mayar has written a letter to the secretary of the Local Government and Rural Development Department, demanding action against more than 12 officers of pay scale-17 and 18 for alleged negligence in performing their duties.
In his letter dated December 28, 2023, the mayor highlighted that over 12 officers in the district were allegedly not fulfilling their legitimate duties. He accused them of showing negligence, absenteeism, late arrivals, early departures, and engaging in indiscipline and misconduct.
He alleged that the behaviour of the officers had disrupted the smooth functioning of all offices and hampered service delivery. He further claimed that their actions set a poor example for lower-ranking officials who follow suit. The letter alleged a lack of official decorum and ethics in the offices, which he termed tantamount to indiscipline and misconduct under the E&D Rules.
He said that despite being advised and warned at different times to uphold honesty, discipline, and punctuality in their duties, there was little improvement.
