‘Wheat procurement policy changed
to benefit small growers’

BAHAWALPUR: Punjab Food Minister Bilal Yaseen on Thursday said that the government had made some changes to the procurement policy to benefit the small growers.
He was talking to reporters at the Commissioner’s Office. According to the new policy, the first five days were fixed for the wheat growers having 12-and-a-half acre or less. After that, every grower would be dealt on merit. The minister said the number of gunny bags had been increased from 8 to 10 per acre keeping longstanding demand of growers in view.
DEATH SENTENCE ON TWO COUNTS: Chishtian Additional District and Sessions Judge Muzammil Musa Thursday awarded death sentence to a killer on two counts. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 200,000 on the convict. The court, however, acquitted father of the convict.
