Shah Rukh becomes first Indian actor whose three movies earn Rs84.6bn in a year
Shah Rukh Khan has become the first Indian actor to deliver a gross revenue of Rs2,500 crores with his films in a single year.
NEW DELHI: 2023 was special for Shah Rukh Khan. The superstar made a smashing comeback with Pathaan in January, then impressed all with Jawan and finally, wrapped up the year with Rajkumar Hirani’s Dunki. While all three movies were amongst the biggest hits of the year, it has now been revealed that the films collectively earned Indian Rs2,500 crores (Pak Rs84.6 billion), Indian media reported.
Recently, trade analyst Ramesh Bala took to the microblogging site X and shared that Shah Rukh Khan has become the first Indian actor to deliver a gross revenue of Rs2,500 crores with his films in a single year. “@iamsrk becomes the 1st Actor in the Indian movie industry, to cumulatively deliver 2,500 Crs gross revenue in a single calendar year.. (sic),” he wrote.
Released in January 2023, Pathaan marked Shah Rukh Khan’s comeback to the big screen after four years. The film also starred John Abraham, Deepika Padukone, and Dimple Kapadia in key roles. Salman Khan also made a special appearance in the film.
Following Pathaan’s success, Shah Rukh Khan stunned everyone once again with his action-packed avatar in Jawan. Released on September 7, the Atlee directorial also starred Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi, Sanya Malhotra, Priyamani and Ridhi Dogra in key roles.
Most recently, Shah Rukh Khan was seen in Dunki. Released on December 21, the film features an ensemble cast including Boman Irani, Taapsee Pannu, Vicky Kaushal, Vikram Kochhar, and Anil Grover along with Shah Rukh Khan. It follows the emotional journey of a group of friends who want to move abroad. The plot follows the exciting journey of those who choose an unconventional route known as the Donkey Flight, showing the difficulties they face on their way. Just a few days back, Shah Rukh Khan also held an #AskSRK session with his fans on X when a fan asked what part of 2023 was best. To this, the actor replied: “Not parts the whole 2023 was best!!”
