LAHORE : The Air Quality Index (AQI) of the provincial metropolis remained very unhealthy on Saturday while Met office predicted similar weather conditions for the next 24 hours.
Data collected from IQAir revealed that the AQI of the city was 261, which came into the category of very unhealthy while the data released by the EPD showed that the AQI was 253 at EPA Headquarters, National Hockey Stadium and 244 at Punjab University, Lahore College of Earth and Environmental Sciences.
Met officials said continental air was prevailing over most parts of the country while a shallow westerly wave was present over northern parts of the country. They predicted that mainly cold and dry weather was expected in most parts of the country while very cold in northern parts and north Balochistan. They added that dense fog/smog was likely to persist in plain areas of Punjab.
Saturday’s lowest minimum temperature was recorded at Leh where mercury dropped down to -09°C while in Lahore it was 5°C and maximum was 15°C.
