Lahore Zoo, Safari Park projects discussed

LAHORE : Provincial Minister for Planning and Development Bilal Afzal chaired a meeting at the P&D Board and assessed the progress of development projects at Lahore zoo and Safari park.

The meeting was held at the P&D Board where Chairman P&D Board Iftikhar Ali Sahu, DG Wildlife Mubeen Elahi, board members, and other officers were also present.

The minister emphasised the government's commitment to overcoming obstacles hindering the implementation of the master plan for revamping of Lahore Zoo and Safari park.

Identifying the impediments to project completion, he stressed the need to meet the January 31 deadline set by the Punjab Chief Minister for timely delivery of quality entertainment facilities to citizens. Directing the formulation of a daily work plan with regular target reviews, the minister insisted on maintaining construction quality. He also mandated the finalisation of the plan for international procurement of animals, emphasising cost-effectiveness.

He announced the hiring of international consultants to secure large animals at a minimal cost from foreign countries and urged the swift completion of the Safari park and its outer wall.

P&D Board chairman Iftikhar Ali Sahu said the formation of a technical committee, comprising experts from NESPAK, C&W, and other relevant departments would ensure the timely completion of Lahore Zoo and Safari park.

DG Wildlife Mubeen Elahi briefed the participants on the ongoing projects of Lahore Zoo and Safari park, covering design, technical and financial proposals.

The participants were told about local and international animal procurement, civil works, holograms, e-ticket systems, and sculptures.
