10,950 suspects arrested in drug cases in 2023

LAHORE : The Lahore police intensifies its crackdown on drug dealers, with ongoing operations yielding significant results this year.

CCPO Lahore Bilal Siddique Kamyana revealed that the authorities have seized more than 6,891 kg of hashish, over 162 kg of heroin, more than 60 kg of ice, and more than one lakh 49 thousand liters of alcohol. Kamyana stated that a total of 10,797 cases related to drug trafficking have been registered, leading to the arrest of 10,950 individuals involved in this illicit trade.

 The breakdown of cases includes 2,338 in Cantt Division, 1,156 in Civil Lines Division, 2,326 in City Division, 1,588 in Iqbal Town Division, 1,364 in Sadar Division, and 2,025 in Model Town Division. The corresponding arrests have been made as follows: 2,367 in Cantt Division, 1,169 in Civil Lines Division, 2,351 in City Division, 1,604 in Iqbal Town Division, 1,393 in Sadar Division, and 2066 in Model Town Division.

CCPO Lahore emphasized the mobilization of SHOs and anti-narcotics units, conducting intelligence-based operations targeting drug peddlers in proximity to educational institutions and hostels. He underscored that bringing criminal elements to justice and safeguarding lives and property remains Lahore Police's primary duty.

Kamyana called on everyone to contribute to keeping society free from the scourge of drugs, urging parents to closely monitor their children. Reiterating Lahore Police's commitment to a drug-free city, CCPO Lahore affirmed that the force is unwaveringly dedicated to upholding the law.

Christmas ceremony at CCPO office

In adherence to the special directives of CCPO Lahore Bilal Siddique Kamyana, a dedicated ceremony was arranged at the Capital City Police Office to honour the Christian employees in celebration of Christmas.

SSP (Admin) Atif Nazir, in a warm gesture, cut the Christmas cake alongside Christian colleagues, offered early greetings, and distributed gifts. Expressing appreciation, SSP (Admin) Atif Nazir acknowledged the invaluable contribution of Christian employees within Lahore Police, emphasizing their significance as a valuable asset to the department. He extended heartfelt wishes for a merry Christmas to all Christian colleagues, highlighting the cohesive familial bond shared within Lahore Police where joys and sorrows are mutually embraced.

SSP (Admin) Atif Nazir assured foolproof security arrangements for Christmas events and Christian places of worship throughout the city. Stringent security measures will be implemented at entertainment venues to ensure that Christian citizens can joyously celebrate their religious festival in a serene and secure environment.
