CM approves PSCA DIC-3 project for 17 districts

LAHORE :The 33rd meeting of the Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA), held under the chair of Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi, approved the DIC-3 project across 17 districts.

In the first phase, the safe city project is set to be deployed in Gujrat, Sialkot, Sargodha and Sheikhupura, with 831 cameras slated for installation across these districts.

Subsequently, 1234 CCTV cameras will be installed in Attock, Jhang, Sahiwal, Bahawalpur and Rahimyar Khan while over 500 cameras will be installed in Jhelum, Murree, Mianwali, Muzaffargarh and several other districts in the third phase. The meeting also deliberated on establishing safe city authority in the remaining districts of the province. IG police, Additional IG, Planning and Development P&D chairman, secretary home department, CCPO and others attended the meeting.

Naqvi, State Bank governor discuss economic situation

Governor of the State Bank of Pakistan Jameel Ahmad called on Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi to discuss the prevailing economic situation and matters relating to The Bank of Punjab & The Punjab Provincial Cooperative Bank.

The chief minister expressed his commitment to increasing production by implementing measures such as providing subsidies and soft loans to the farmers. Recognising the need to alleviate the financial burden on small-scale farmers, he emphasised that fostering higher production is paramount. The anticipated positive outcomes include widespread benefits from enhanced economic activities in the agricultural and other sectors, he noted. The chief minister also highlighted the significance of achieving record cotton production in Punjab, projecting substantial savings of $2 billion in foreign exchange. Mohsin Naqvi pointed out that the rice export from Punjab has exceeded $2 billion as the provincial government was following a policy of providing comprehensive facilities to investors and industrialists, foreseeing positive ramifications in the form of a thriving stock exchange. Recognising that enhanced production of cotton, rice and other crops will contribute positively to the national economy, the SBP governor expressed optimism about the future economic landscape and commended CM Punjab for his valuable initiatives to improve different sectors, including agriculture.

Extends deadline to launch crackdown on encroachments

The chief minister has extended the deadline to launch a grand operation against encroachments for 24 hours. He stated that the operation against encroachments would now be launched tomorrow (Wednesday). Mohsin Naqvi asserted that no leniency would be meted out to anyone. We are giving 24 hours further to the people so that they can remove encroachments and save themselves from legal proceedings.
