Fines of Rs3 million imposed on profiteers
Karachi Commissioner Muhammad Salim Rajput has directed officials to continue the campaign against profiteers in order to ensure adherence to the government-approved rates.
According to reports, fines totalling Rs3 million were imposed against profiteers during action against 50 major retailers on Sunday. Various retailers dealing in groceries, meat, vegetables, fruits, dairy and poultry were part of the crackdown.
According to details, fines of Rs176,500 were imposed on 30 retailers in District South. In District East Rs37,000 was fined during action taken against six retailers. In District West Rs115,500 was imposed as fine on five retailers. Two retailers were fined Rs20,000 in District Central and seven retailers were fined Rs58,000 in District Korangi.
