MANSEHRA: Two persons were killed and hundreds of chickens perished when a heavy landslide hit a pickup vehicle in Lotar area of Upper Kohistan, officials said on Tuesday.
“The incident happened early in the day. Our team along with the locals retrieved the bodies of the driver and his helper after removing boulders and shifted them to a health facility in Dasu,” Abdul Rehman, an official of the Rescue 1122, told reporters.
The landslides, according to Rescue 1122 personnel, detached from the nearby mountain on Karakoram Highway, burying both the driver and conductor under rubble.The locals and rescue 1122 personnel rushed to the spot after the incident and retrieved the bodies after hectic efforts of over an hour.
The bodies were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital at Dasu in Upper Kohistan from where they were taken to their native area in Skardu after doctors completed the medico-legal formalities.
