KARACHI: K-Electric (KE) said on Tuesday that it welcomed the findings of a recent inquiry report by the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) on billing practices in distribution companies (DISCOs).
The report stated that KE was the only company using handheld devices for meter reading, which are an effective solution at ensuring transparency in the meter reading and billing process.
The report also found that KE's monthly billing cycles followed the regulator's guidelines and observed no lapse from the company in this regard. "This also means that no customer bills were affected by a change of slab or a change in their protected status, an observation which the company welcomed," the KE said in a statement.
The statement said the company remained engaged with NEPRA to share information and discuss any other points raised by the authority.
