Westminster School holds Sports Day
Islamabad
The students of Westminster School Islamabad celebrated their annual Sports Day at Pakistan Sports Complex with great zeal and fervor, says a press release.
Hundreds of students between the ages of six and fourteen participated in this spectacular event while spectators cheered on. The annual sports day started with an impressive march past followed by the national anthem. This year's sports day was dedicated to gymnastics coach and sports instructor Zahoor Hussain who passed away recently.
The sunny day was electrified by the red and navy blue colours of the Jinnah and Iqbal Houses splashed across banners, T-shirts and flags. The students' excitement in supporting their respective houses was contagious. The grounds reverberated with feverish enthusiasm as the tempo set in with the students and teachers excitedly cheering, voicing the spirit of oneness among all.
"Today, we have proven beyond doubt that the general perception of contemporary primary and middle schoolers as being less active, social media addicts, and disinterested in sports is absolutely wrong and unfair. If given the right opportunities and encouragement, we can exhibit talent, discipline and determination to win any competition," shared one of the student athletes with at least four winning trophies in his hands.
Students had an opportunity to showcase their multi faceted talents in a number of track and field events, including 30, 50 and 100 metre races, relay race, sack race, three-legged race, egg and spoon race, gymnastic and karate presentation.
