Doctors briefed on progress in Gujrat killing of care-giver
LAHORE: Punjab Inspector General Police Dr. Usman Anwar met with a delegation of doctors on Monday and provided updates on the investigation into the killing of Dr. Zeeshan Anwar in Gujrat.
Led by Chairman of the Young Doctors Association Dr. Mudassar Nawaz, the delegation included prominent medical figures such as YDA Chairman of Services Hospital Dr. Mahmoodul Hasan, and Gujrat President of the Pakistan Medical Association Dr. Maqsood Zahid, among others.
During the meeting, CPO Gujranwala Ayaz Saleem, participating through a video link, updated the IG Punjab and the delegation on the progress of the investigation. The use of CCTV cameras, geo-fencing, and other evidence was highlighted, assuring the delegation that the culprits would be apprehended soon.
Dr. Usman Anwar directed swift action and justice for Dr. Zeeshan Anwar’s family, addressing the concerns of the doctor community.In another engagement, a delegation from the Pakistan Medical Association, led by Lahore President Prof. Dr. Ashraf Nizami, met with the IGP.
The delegation was briefed on the latest developments in the arrest of Dr. Zeeshan Anwar’s murderers. Dr. Usman Anwar assured the delegation of prompt action against the culprits. The discussion also emphasized preventive measures for motorcycle accidents, with the need for side mirrors and chain covers highlighted.
The coordination between the police department and NADRA regarding the identification of abandoned patients was stressed during the meeting. The delegation included PMA Vice-President Dr. Salman Kazmi, Dr. Humera, and Dr. Iram Shahzadi.
Health Welfare Measures: Inspector General Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar allocated over 12 lakh funds for the health welfare of six officers and officials.
The funds included support for the treatment of injured personnel, with detailed disbursements for individuals in Sialkot, Jhang, Lahore, and Faisalabad. Dr. Usman Anwar underscored the importance of utilizing available funds effectively for the well-being of the police force.
Departmental Promotions: The IGP announced that over 15,000 police officers and officials received departmental promotions this year, emphasising adherence to merit and rules. Promotions and service structure upgrades were extended to various forces, including CTD, Special Branch, and PHP.
Dr. Usman Anwar directed the police force to utilise its powers for the protection of citizens, focusing on service delivery, good behavior, and a positive attitude. He addressed officers promoted from Head Constable to ASI, encouraging intelligence-based operations and crime eradication.
A ceremony at the Central Police Office honoured Lahore Police officials promoted to ASI, with Dr. Usman Anwar personally pinning new ranks to 63 deserving policemen. Senior police officers, including DIG Investigation Imran Kishwar and SSP Admin Atif Nazir, were present.
