PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Asad Qaiser has moved the Peshawar High Court (PHC) against his repeated arrests.
He filed a writ petition through his lawyer Syed Sikandar Hayat Shah Advocate. The provincial government, Home and Tribal Affairs Department, National Accountability Bureau, Anti-Corruption Establishment and Federal Investigation Agency were made respondents in the petition.
His lawyer told the court that Asad Qaiser, who was former speaker of the National Assembly, had been on bail in a case related to the May 9 attacks on the military installations, therefore he should not be arrested in connection with other cases.
He said that his client was arrested in another case when he secured bail in one case. The counsel argued that arresting his client in connection with another case after securing bail amounted to political victimization. He said that Asad Qaiser had already approached the Peshawar High Court to provide him with the details of all the cases registered against him. He sought court orders to prevent the police from arresting his client.
