Minor dies after falling into open manhole in deputy mayor’s constituency

In a distressing incident, a minor girl died after falling into an uncovered manhole in Karachi’s Memon Goth area on Saturday.

The two-year-old girl, Muskan, daughter of Haji Wazir Ali, died after falling into an uncovered sewer in the constituency of Karachi Deputy Mayor Salman Abdullah Murad in Memon Goth.

Police and locals reached the scene and said the tragedy took place because the manhole was not covered. The crowd also staged a protest against the incident and shouted slogans against Gadap Town Chairman Tariq Aziz Baloch and the deputy mayor.

The body of the deceased girl was retrieved and transferred to a local hospital. No case had been registered till the filing of this news story. This was the second similar incident to have occurred in the same area as a couple of months ago, a two-and-a-half year-old boy also lost his life after falling into an uncovered manhole.
