Four terrorists killed in Karachi encounter

KARACHI: The Sindh Rangers on Monday claimed to have killed four notorious terrorists, including the Amir and Naib Amir of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) Karachi, after a fierce gunfight in Surjani Town, during which two personnel of the Rangers also sustained injuries.
A spokesman for the Sindh Rangers said Rangers personnel conducted a targeted raid in Surjani Town, Sector 10, on being informed of the presence of terrorists who were planning terrorist activities in Karachi.
On seeing the Rangers near their hideout, the terrorists resorted to firing, and the Rangers returned effective fire. As a personnel of Rangers also sustained bullet injuries.He said terrorists put up fierce resistance and opened fire on the Rangers’ troops, on which more personnel of the paramilitary force were called and after an encounter, all four terrorists were killed.
The killed terrorists were later identified as Tariq Khan alias Chota Abid, who was the TTP Amir of Karachi, his deputy or Naib Amir Rehmanuddin alias Lala while the other killed terrorists included Amjad Khan and Sardar Rab Khan.
Rangers found automatic weapons including submachine guns and hand grenades as well as live ammunition from the possession of the killed terrorists, he added.Meanwhile, an activist of People’s Students Federation (PSF) and student of University of Karachi was killed by armed men near Samama Shopping Center when armed men shot him twice in the head and chest.
Sajjad Hussain, 32 s/o Meherban Ali, a student of Criminology Department of KU and an activist of PSF was on his motorbike when armed men shot him near Samama shopping center and escaped.
SP Gulshan-e-Iqbal police Abid Qaimkhani said the deceased was a resident of Hussain Hazara Goth in Gulistan-e-Jauhar and student of Karachi University. He was coming out of the varsity after taking exams when targeted.A spokesman for the PSF claimed that the deceased was their worker and demanded authorities to arrest his killers.
