Bilawal warns against imposing ‘selected’ govt
Bilawal said that a certain political party was in search of ‘electables’ and warned against imposing a selected setup on the country
MARDAN: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Friday said that a certain political party was in search of ‘electables’ and warned against imposing a selected setup on the country. “We will not accept any selected government and the country will face the consequences,” he told a workers’ convention here.
Senator Nayyar Bukhari, Senator Sherry Rahman, PPP provincial president Muhammad Ali Shah Bacha, PPP Mardan division president Nawabzada Umar Farooq Khan and other party leaders were present. A large number of party workers attended the convention.
“It is the sole prerogative of the people of the country to decide who should serve and represent them,” he said, adding that the PPP was ready to accept the decision of the people. “We will accomplish the incomplete mission of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto,” he added.
Bilawal said the PPP had always served the people from the downtrodden segments of the society. He said the people supported Quaid-e-Awam Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and in return, he gave them their voice through the right to vote. He added that the former PPP leader not only raised the slogan of ‘Roti, Kapra Aur Makaan’, but implemented it during his tenure. The PPP leader said that he gave the common man ownership of his land and struggled for the rights of the common people. Shaheed Benazir Bhutto also strived for the rights of the people and faced dictators, he said, adding: “It is with the help of the people that one unarmed woman faced General Zia and General Musharraf but never backed down.”
