A prosperous Pakistan PMLN’s priority: Nawaz
Chairing a meeting of the PMLN Quetta wing here, Nawaz said the PMLN was focused on welfare of masses
LAHORE: PMLN Quaid and former prime minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif Wednesday said his party didn’t want power for its own sake but to address the challenges faced by the general public.
Chairing a meeting of the PMLN Quetta wing here, Nawaz said the PMLN was focused on welfare of masses.
Former prime minister, PMLN President Shehbaz Sharif, accompanied him.
Nawaz highlighted the achievements of his government, including construction of 400 small dams and establishment of Danish schools by Shehbaz Sharif, and expressed his commitment to providing quality education to the children of Balochistan.
The PMLN Quaid criticised other political parties for making promises without delivering tangible results for Balochistan. He questioned the delay in completing the Quetta-Islamabad corridor project through Dera Ismail Khan, which was scheduled to be completed in 2018.
He also pledged to introduce a solar panel scheme to save households, and commercial and agricultural consumers from inflated power bills.
Addressing the nation, Nawaz sought the support of the people committed to a positive change, saying the PMLN envisioned a happy Pakistan rather than seeking power for its own sake.
Meanwhile, Shehbaz Sharif, in a meeting with the Sarwan tribe chief and former chief minister Nawab Muhammad Aslam Khan Raisani in Quetta, discussed the general political situation and election issues.
Later, the PMLN minority wing in Quetta organised an event to celebrate Diwali. Nawaz, Shehbaz, Maryam Nawaz and other party leaders attended the event and congratulated the Hindu community.
Meanwhile, Nawaz Sharif concluded his visit to Balochistan and returned to Lahore the same day by a special plane.
PMLN Chief Organiser Maryam Nawaz, former prime minister Shehbaz Sharif, Capt (retd) Safdar Awan, former federal information minister Maryam Aurangzeb, and former speaker Ayaz Sadiq also accompanied Nawaz Sharif to Lahore.
