Funds for health sector

Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Secretary Najam Ahmed has said the Punjab government is providing huge funds generously for the betterment of the people and provision of best treatment facilities to the poor in public sector hospitals.

According to a handout issued on Friday,  Najam Ahmed Shah, presiding over a meeting in his office, said that on the directions of Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif, the government had released additional funds of Rs 520 million for ensuring free medicines to the poor patients. Najam Ahmed said the government had allocated Rs 10.80 billion for the provision of free medicines in the current fiscal year which had already been provided to the hospitals. Additional Secretary (Admin) Asad Naeem, Additional Secretary (Development) Zaheer Abbas Malik, Chief Planning Officer Abdul Haq Bhatti and  Budget and Accounts Deputy Secretary Sarfraz Ahmed attended the meeting.

Health Secretary Najam Ahmed Shah said that the main objective of the government was to provide quality health services to the people through health sector development and improvement of hospitals. He said the chief minister was giving great importance to the development of health sector. He said latest technology was being introduced to improve the health sector in Punjab. He said that after introducing new initiatives, a lot of improvement was observed in this sector.
