Smog level continues to increase
LAHORE: The Air Quality Index (AQI) of the provincial metropolis continued to deteriorate again and reached 245 here on Wednesday.
Met officials predicted that fog/smog was likely to develop in plain areas of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during morning hours. Data released by the Environment Protection Department (EPD), Punjab revealed that AQI was 221 on Jail Road near Lahore College for Women University, it was 206 at Punjab University and 245 at Town Hall Lahore.
On the other hand, the city witnessed a partly cloudy weather with a little haze. Met officials said continental air was prevailing over most parts of the country.They predicted that mainly dry weather was expected in most parts of the country while cold and partly cloudy in upper parts. Wednesday’s lowest minimum temperature was recorded at Leh where mercury dropped down to -06°C while in Lahore it was 13°C while maximum was 27°C.
