Bride, accomplice held for bridegroom murder

PESHAWAR: Police have arrested a bride and her friend for killing a bridegroom during his wedding party on Charsadda Road, officials said on Tuesday.

“Police worked out the case within 48 hours. The main killer and the bride who allegedly facilitated the murder have been arrested,” Capital City Police officer Peshawar Ashfaq Anwar and Senior Superintendent of Police Operations Kashif Abbasi told a press conference.

The police chief said the bride wanted to marry the accused Jalal of Charsadda and the two allegedly planned the murder during the wedding party.

A bridegroom Adnan from Industrial Estate was killed in his car on the Charsadda Road when his wedding procession was on way to the house of the bride on November 11. The SSP Operations said the police started an investigation and grilled many people during the process. He added during the investigation, the cops suspected the bride after her statement.

The official said the accused Fazal Maula and the bride loved each other and wanted to marry but the family had tied her knot with Adnan that angered the two.The two later plotted the murder of Adnan to delay the marriage and reunite later. CCPO Ashfaq Anwar said modern technology was used to work out the case within no time.
