HANGU: The secretaries of Zakat Department in 19 union councils had not been paid their salaries for the last several months owing to a financial crunch, sources said on Sunday.
They said that the Zakat Department was facing the worst kind of financial crises due to which about nine secretaries in 19 union councils had not been given their salaries for the last several months.
They added that over 88 zakat committees in the district had also become dysfunctional because of financial constraints.The sources said that patients, deserving poor, students and others also remained deprived of their stipends besides jahez funds and guzara allowances due to non-availability of funds for the same.
They said that the post of chairman district zakat was lying vacant for the last several months, which has also created problems for the residents of Hangu district.
