Islamabad: The Islamabad Wildlife Management Board (IWMB) took a significant step Saturday towards the preservation and protection of the Margalla Hills National Park by inaugurating the Margalla Ridge Trail.

The inauguration was led by the Chairperson of the Islamabad Wildlife Management Board, Chairperson's Miss Rina Saeed, who was joined by members of the media and staff. The Margalla Ridge Trail provides a breath-taking view of the natural beauty that surrounds the Margalla Hills National Park and serves as a crucial boundary between Islamabad and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

This newly opened trail is part of IWMB's efforts to divert visitors away from other crowded trails within the park over the weekends and to ensure the better preservation of this ecologically important area.

The trail extends up to 10 kilometres from Talhar to Kot Jandan, ensuring that this pristine natural environment is maintained and protected. Overall, the Margalla Ridge Trail covers a distance of approximately 44 kilometres, running from Shah Allah Ditta to Murree’s Ghora Gali. However, the initial inauguration focuses on the segment from Talhar to Kot Jandan lying within the national park boundaries.

The Islamabad Wildlife Management Board encourages hikers, nature enthusiasts, and tourists to explore the Margalla Ridge Trail and experience the stunning views it offers while adhering to responsible hiking practices and respecting the park's rules and regulations.
