Sanitation workers protest for acceptance of demands

PESHAWAR: The All Municipal Workers Union of WSSP held a protest demonstration at the office of the Mayor Capital Metropolitan Government here on Tuesday for acceptance of their demands.

The protest was led by Chairman Riaz Khan and General Secretary Abid Sohail which was attended by municipal inspectors, sanitary supervisors, water supply staff and tube-well operators and other staff. The protesters said that they were not getting salaries regularly due to the negligence of the company management.

They said that special person allowance was not being paid for three months. They said that the company cadre employees were not paid Rs32,000 for three months.

They said that the 16 percent increments were not paid for three months while the 35 percent raise and weather advance was also pending. The protesters said that the Eidul Azha overtime, food allowance, Muharram overtime and tube-well operators’ overtime had been pending for eight months.

They demanded the government to pay them salaries on the first of every month and clear their pending dues. They said that their salary file was placed at the table of secretary finance for the last 10 days for his signature.

They said that the company was not clearing the due amount, saying that the mayor’s office had not cleared the company’s outstanding amount.They said that the government should either provide enough funds to the company to run its day-to-day affairs smoothly or ask the mayor to find a permanent solution to the problem.
