Another youngster was killed in crossfire between police and suspected robbers in the city on Monday, while the suspects escaped. Twenty-four-year-old Arsalan was shot dead outside a bank in Orangi Town No. 10 during the alleged encounter.
According to the victim's family, he had gone to withdraw money from the ATM, where this unfortunate incident occurred. Police said some robbers were looting people outside the bank when police officers on patrol in the area challenged them.
The robbers started firing at the police officers. They returned the fire, but the suspects managed to get away. During this exchange of fire, Arsalan was hit with a bullet, which proved fatal. No FIR was registered till the filing of this story.
This is the second time within a week that a youth has lost his life in an exchange of fire between police and suspected robbers. On October 18, 16-year-old matric student Amir was shot in the head and 23-year-old Murtaza in the leg in a similar crossfire in the Ghas Mandi area. Amir died while Murtaza survived. Three suspects were killed in this incident. Police in both cases have maintained that the victims were hit with bullets fired by suspected robbers.
