ANP wants govt to consult opposition on forming commission
Panama Leaks
NOWSHERA: Awami National Party (ANP) general secretary Mian Iftikhar Hussain on Sunday said the offer of the interior minister to Imran Khan to propose name of any officer of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to investigate the Panama Leaks was inappropriate.
He was talking to reporters after attending a condolence reference for former Member National Assembly Wali Muhammad Khan in Akora Khattak.
Mian Iftikhar questioned that in which capacity the Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan offered the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan to name any officer of FIA to probe the matter. “It shows that the government is afraid of the PTI,” he added.
He said the government should consult the opposition leader in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah and opposition parties for the forming of the commission. “The offer reflects as if the Panama papers issue is only a dispute between the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and PTI,” he added.
He said Chaudhry Nisar’s offer has changed the entire scenario. “It reflects like the two parties have reached a compromise on the issue. Imran Khan and Nawaz Sharif are fighting for control over Punjab province, which is the centre of the politics of the two parties. Both of them never speak against the interest of Punjab,” he added.
He asked the government to take the parliament intoconfidence about the issue, he added. He claimed that difference have emerged between the civil and military leadership over the issue of launching of an operation against militants in Punjab after the Lahore park suicide attack. He said the government was trying to bridge the gap between the government and establishment.
