Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan has said that ensuring comprehensive and timely solutions of public grievances is the prime responsibility of any government as it is given the mandate by people for this purpose.
He was attending a briefing of the Public Grievances Redressal Cell (PGRC) on Friday at the Governor House.
Principal Secretary to Governor Muhammad Hussain Syed, Advisor to Governor for Media & Higher Education Syed Wajahat Ali, Secretary to Governor Akhter Ghori and officers of various provincial departments were also present on the occasion. The governor said it was an obligation of both the local and the provincial governments to formulate a viable strategy for the solution of problems and provision of all basic amenities of life to masses.
The development projects focusing on health, education and transport should be given utmost attention so as to provide these facilities at the doorstep every citizen, he added.
Ebad said many of such problems came into his knowledge which could have been resolved immediately, but due to various reasons, including inefficiency of government officials, the complaints had to be moved to the relevant offices, which take months to resolve their issues.
Keeping in view these problems, the governor said, the PGRC was established in 2012 which had become fully activate and operational.
Dr Ebad directed all the provincial departments to fully cooperate with the PGRC and ensure prompt reply of any query or complaint forwarded to them, which in his words was required to end any unnecessary hassle to masses.
He said the figures compiled by the cell showed that few departments had not paid any heed to the complaints forwarded to them by the cell due to which the complaints were still pending. He directed all the departments to nominate an officer as the focal person for the complaints forwarded by the cell.
The secretary to governor and administrative in-charge of the cell, Akhtar Ghori, said complaints could be registered on the website of the cell www.governorsindh.gov.pk or through its phone numbers: 136 and 99201204-06. Complaints can also be lodged by post or submitted at the gate no4 of the Governor House.
