ISLAMABAD: Secretary Information Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Shireen Mazari has filed a petition in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) challenging the nomination of Iqbal Zafar Jhagra and Raheela Magsi as candidates for the Senate elections from Islamabad on the ticket of the ruling PML-N.
IHC Registrar’s office has raised objections that the petitioner has not attached the documents alongside the petition, pertaining to the approval of nomination papers of the said candidates.
Justice Athar Minallah of the IHC would hear this case today (Thursday) as objection case. The petitioner nominated the Federation, chief election commissioner, Iqbal Zafar Jhagra and Raheela Magsi as respondents. She contended that the two said candidates were neither Islamabad’s citizens nor they were registered voters of Islamabad and hence they could not contest the Senate elections from Islamabad. The petitioner prayed to the court to issue directions for the rejections of nomination papers.
