ISLAMABAD: Iranian Energy Minister Hamid Chitchian has said that Pakistan wanted to import electricity from Iran up to 3,000MW and the country's minister for water and power would sign an agreement during his upcoming visit to Tehran.
For the last 13 years, Iran has exported its electricity to Pakistan, he said, adding that during the recent visit to the neighbouring country by President Hassan Rouhani, Tehran and Islamabad decided to increase the level of electricity export by 40 percent, Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) reported.
The minister said that Iran had established electricity exchange with seven neighbouring countries.
Turkey, Iraq, Pakistan and Afghanistan are among the countries that import Iran's electricity, he added.
