Citizens deprived of valuables in 26 hits

GUJRANWALA: Robbers and thieves deprived citizens of cash, vehicles and valuables in 26 strikes in different areas of Gujranwala on Monday.
At Noshera Virkan gunmen snatched Rs 27,000 and two cell phones from Saqlain, and Rs 20,000 and four cell phones from Shafqat.
At Ferozewala robbers snatched Rs 14,000 and a cell phone from Amar.
Rabia was deprived of Rs 23,000 and a cell phone by dacoits in Emanabad.
In Sadar police station Gujranwala limits bandits snatched Rs 22,000 and two cell phones from Babar.
At Gakhar Mandi gunmen snatched Rs17,000 and two cell phones from Sajjad.
Arshad was deprived of Rs 13,000 in Aroop. Bandits snatched Rs 15,000 and two cell phones from Naveed in Sohdar area.
In Cantt area gunmen snatched Rs 21,000 and three cell phones from Afzal.
Shafique was robbed of Rs 21,000 and a cell phone by robbers in Garjakh.
Hakeem Azam was deprived of Rs 10,000 and a cell phone by robbers in Sabzi Mandi police station limits.
A car of Luqman and new motorcycles of Mubashar, Ishaq, Zahid, Tanseem, Tanvir, Mustafeez Ali, Mohsin, Mudassar Bukhari, Abid, Rana Arshad, Akhter, Arif Masih, Naveed Islam were stolen from different areas of the city.
POLICE PERFORMANCE: The Civil Lines police Monday claimed busting 58 dacoit gangs and recovering stolen property worth Rs 4,824,925 from them during a campaign against criminals during the last 10 months.
Talking to reporters, SP Civil Lines Nadeem Khokhar said police also arrested 691 drug peddlers and recovered 192,399 gram charas, 39,695 gram heroin, 45 gram opium and 5,802 litre liquor from their possession.
He said in a drive against illegal arms, the Civil Lines police recovered 30 Kalashnikovs, 17 rifles, 40 shotguns, 40 revolvers, 520 pistols and arrested 639 illegal weapon holders.
BURN INJURIES: Two people sustained burns at Garjakh on Monday.
Reportedly, Yusuf, 42, and Rukhsana, 36, received burn injuries when a fire erupted in their house located near a police station. The fire erupted owing to a short circuit. They were shifted to District Headquarters Hospital.
