Theatre highlights problems, rights of children
CHITRAL: A theatre drama was staged to raise awareness and sensitise the society about the problems and protection of rights of children.
Held at the Government High School Ayun, the Child Projection Project under the auspices of Sarhad Rural Support Programme (SRSP) had arranged the theatre drama titled “development for social change”.
School Principal Ihsanul Haq, Village Council Ayun-1 chairman Wajeehuddin, former member Jandola Khan, youth councillor Sohaib Umar, teachers and students of school, civil society members and women attended the theatre.
The artistes performed well to highlight the issues and rights of children and received thunderous applause from the audience.
The drama highlighted the discrimination being meted out to children, social injustices, domestic violence, education and health issues, sexual and mental torture, underage marriages, importance of anti-polio vaccination, laws related to children, lack of awareness about problems and rights of children and others.
Theatre director Zahid Rahman and Ibrahim Jan of SRSP extended cooperation to the artistes in organising the drama. School Principal Ihsanul Haq while speaking on the occasion praised SRSP for arranging theatre on such vital issues related to children. He said that the SRSP had always served the society in different ways, including children by highlighting their problems and rights.
He added that the Child Projection Project was a good initiative, which had helped raise awareness about the problems and rights of the children.SRSP social organiser Ibadur Rahman thanked the artistes and participants.
