PHC told notices issued for closure of gutter pipes to canals
PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) was told Monday that notices were issued to 96 people for closing sewage drains and gutter pipes to the canals in Peshawar.
The legal advisor to the Irrigation Department informed a division bench headed by Justice Yahya Afridi that the department as per the high court directives started action for closing sewage drains and gutter pipes to the Peshawar city’s canals. Notices were issued to 96 citizens to close forthwith the sewage drains and gutter pipes.
However, the bench directed the authorities concerned to submit complete progress report about implementation of the court orders on April 7. The court on the previous hearing had ordered the authorities concerned to submit complete progress report on closure of all sewage drains and gutter pipes to the city’s canals and safety from waste materials, shopping bags, plastic bottles, kitchen and human wastes are being thrown in the canals. A Peshawar based lawyer, Ghulam Shoaib Jaly had filed the writ petition, seeking closure of all sewage drains and gutters pipes to the city’s canals and use of other wastes.
