ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information Pervaiz Rashid Monday said the government would implement the Women Protection Act at every cost.
“Laws are being framed for providing due status to women and for the protection of their rights. Legislation was enacted for protection of women against violence,” while talking to journalists after inaugurating a photo exhibition held in connection with the Pakistan Day
The daughters of the nation had boosted the status of Pakistan by winning a cricket match against Indian, assuaging the pain felt by the nation over loss suffered by the boys, he noted. “I congratulate the women cricket team over the victory.”
Quaid-e-Azam had envisioned that justice and equal rights would be given to every Pakistani, Pervaiz said, adding that there should be no discrimination among the citizens of Pakistan. He said Pakistan was progressing as per the vision of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah where every citizen had equal rights without any discrimination. “The government and state treat every Pakistani equally without any discrimination of gender, faith, caste and creed,” he said.
Pervaiz said the leadership wanted to see Pakistan united and progressing besides giving every citizen his all due rights. Unfortunately, he added, some elements attempted to create negative image of Pakistan by carrying out subversive activities to stop the national progress and render it insecure.
But the armed forces had effectively tackled the menace of terrorism by rendering great sacrifices to purge the country of anti-state elements, he added. He said Pakistan wanted better relations with all neighbouring countries for development and prosperity of South Asia.
