SC foiled conspiracy to divide judiciary: Elahi
LAHORE: Former chief minister Punjab Chaudhry Parvez Elahi has accused that he and his colleagues are being punished for being loyal to Imran Khan and the government is registering false cases against them.
He warned the government to refrain from such tactics and said “InshaAllah, we will be acquitted honourably of all these cases”.
He passed these views while meeting former chairman Chief Minister’s Complaint Cell Zubair Ahmed Khan here on Saturday. Zubair had allegedly been abducted from outside his house 38 days ago. On a petition filed by advocate Sardar Razzaq and Raja Asad with the Lahore High Court Pindi Bench, Justice Chaudhry Abdul Aziz ordered the Ministry of Defence to release him till April 17.
Later, former MNA Wehari Aftab Ahmad Khan Khichi, MNA Mailsi Aurangzeb Khan Khichi, former provincial minister Transport Jahanzeb Khan Khichi, Shahzad Khan Khichi, Syed Mohammad Saleem, former chairman UC Gakhar Kalan Ahmad Kiranwala Saidan, Manan Shah Kiranwala Saidan and Abdul Rauf called on PTI President Parvez Elahi and former federal minister Ch Wajahat Hussain. Elahi said the Supreme Court of Pakistan took the wind out of the government bill which wanted to create divisions within the supreme court through an unconstitutional bill. The supreme court foiled the government conspiracy to create chaos in the judiciary. The bold decisions of the apex court are raising the prestige of the Pakistani judiciary in the world. The chief justice of Pakistan has become hero of the entire nation and people will not tolerate any conspiracy against him.
Elahi said those demanding a full court were now opposing a majority decision. The eight-member bench has ended the whole discussion of two-three and three-four.
The head of each institution has some special powers and the chief justice cannot be deprived of his presiding powers. It is sad that the PDM has made the parliament a hotbed of conspiracies against the judiciary.
Legislation is being made in the parliament only to save the government instead of people. The government should know that no institution including parliament is above the Constitution. The public will teach a lesson in elections to those who flout the Constitution and law in the parliament.
The government will have to hold elections in any case because all escape routes have been blocked.
