Imran, Pervez Khattak call on Jhagra
PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan and Chief Minister Pervez Khattak on Tuesday called on the newly appointed Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra and pledged joint efforts to resolve issues confronting the province and the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata).
An official handout said they remained with the governor for some time and discussed matters of mutual interest with special focus on the wellbeing of the people of the province and Fata. They felicitated the governor on his appointment and assured their support for stability, peace, development and prosperity in Fata and KP, it added.
While appreciating the services of Iqbal Zafar Jhagra for strengthening democracy in the country, the PTI chief hoped that he would make efforts to bring the federation and the province closer to work for the welfare and prosperity of the masses.
Speaking on the occasion, the governor appreciated the initiatives of the provincial government in the province and assured his full support in this regard. He agreed that closer ties between the federation and the province are vital for the country and said he would take all the stakeholders on board for peace, stability and development of the province and Fata.
It may be added that the new governor like his predecessor Sardar Mahtab Ahmad Khan belongs to the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, which is a rival party to Imran Khan’s PTI. However, Sardar Mahtab had developed good working relations with the PTI-led provincial government in the province and it seems the two sides are keen to continue this practice now that Jhagra has become the governor.
