Govt grants Pakistani citizenship to Indian widow
ISLAMABAD: Minister for Interior and Narcotics Control Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan has taken notice of a letter by a widow who applied for Pakistani citizenship. According to the Ministry of Interior, the said woman, an Indian citizen married a Pakistani man many years ago and wanted Pakistani citizenship. Her application has been pending in the Ministry of Interior since 2008. The widow appealed to the Interior Minister for help after getting deprived of her share of property after death of her husband and against the alleged injustice meted out to her by stepsons. The minister has decided to give Pakistani citizenship to the widow immediately in line with the relevant laws. The minister directed authorities to complete probe into the matter mentioned in the letter in order to initiate legal action against those who had allegedly deprived the woman of her rights
