ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) Council of Complaints (CoC) Balochistan on Tuesday recommended cancellation of three cable TV licenses in Sibi district for being non- operational.
The recommendation was given in its meeting held under the chairmanship of Prof Agha Muhammad Nasir at Pemra regional office Quetta, said a press release issued here. The firms whose licences were to be cancelled included Jhandran Cable TV Network district Kohlu, Hoshab Cable TV Network district Kech and Raja Jee Cable TV Network.
Discussing a complaint against Hum TV for airing indecent content harming sentiments of the viewers the council directed the channel to air an apology. The council recommended the Authority to issue advice to all satellite TV channels to strictly follow Code of Conduct 2015 in order to avoid broadcast of unwanted content.
It also recommended the Authority to strengthen and upgrade its existing monitoring set up. Hearing the case of Cottcool International (Pvt) Ltd about non-operation of FM 95.4 Mhz from Ziarat, the council directed its chief executive officer (CEO) to immediately start transmission from Ziarat and clear all outstanding dues within one month time failing which proceedings shall be initiated as per Pemra laws.
Other council members including Dr. Rasheeda Panezai Advocate, Mir Attaullah Langove, Musa Khan Kakar and Rahat Ali (Regional General Manager, Sectary to the council) were also present in the meeting.
