ISLAMABAD: In order to deal with emergency situations, the local police will soon introduce a smart phone-based emergency alert system for the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) schools on the instructions of Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan.
A police spokesman said the system will be provided to the administrative staff of 422 government and 1,200 private schools, colleges and universities.Under the direct supervision of IGP Tahir Alam Khan, arrangements to design and deploy the system are in progress.
The IGP has directed the Operations and IT departments to make the system functional before the opening of educational institutions on January 12.In this regard, a meeting was held between the experts of Pakistan Telecommunication (PTA) and the Islamabad Police officers on Thursday.

The IGP said security had been enhanced in the capital before the opening of educational institutions. He said 37 DSPs and inspectors will coordinate with the administrations of educational institutions.
IGP Tahir Alam Khan, AIG Operations Sultan Azam Temuri and AIG Special Branch Waqar Ahmad Chohan are guiding the subordinate staff on how to educate the teaching staff, administrations and students in dealing with emergency situations.
