James Blunt is unveiling the truth behind the unfortunate death of his close friend, Carrie Fisher.
When the Star Wars actress passed away in 2016, her cause of death was reported to be a “heart attack” while she was on a transatlantic flight. Her autopsy report revealed a cocktail of drugs in her system.
During the Hay Literature Festival, the English musician, 50, revealed that it was Fisher’s Star Wars bosses who pushed her towards drug abuse which led to her heart failure.
“I just knew that the day before she died when she came back to my house and she’d been really mistreating her body and she’d just got the job again of being Princess Leia in the new Star Wars movie,” he recalled.
The You’re Beautiful hitmaker continued, “So she’s really on a high and positive but they had applied a lot of pressure on her to be thin, which is what they do, so she spoke about the difficulties that women have in the industry that men are allowed to grow old and women are not.”
Blunt then reflected that the pressure to lose weight for her role pushed Fisher to “start abusing drugs again.”
“So by the time she got on the plane, she had practically killed herself. Thy said it was a heart failure but she had taken enough drugs to have a great party,” he revealed.
