Emily Blunt gave up on 'scary' stunt in Mary Poppins sequel after three takes
Emily Blunt resisted against the director's orders to do another take
Emily Blunt recently revealed the scariest stunt in her career, citing 2018’s Mary Poppins Returns as her biggest challenge.
Speaking exclusively to PEOPLE, Blunt recalled: “That entrance was very stressful for me.”
Spilling facts on the Poppins character’s entrance, she said that it “had to start in the clouds and come all the way down toward the ground while holding an umbrella aloft.”
“And I’m supposed to walk effortlessly into my close-up as if it’s nothing. I did three takes — and then I felt my tolerance go, ‘Pfft!’ And that was it. I was done,” she added.
However, The Fall Guy alum confirmed that Rob Marshall requested a fourth take, noting: “I did three takes and I could see Rob gearing up to do another one. I was like, ‘Nope, no, no, no, I’m done.’ It was over.”
Opening up about the film’s other big stunt, Blunt said her character Mary had to zoom backwards into the “depths of a magical bathtub.”
Though she noted, “That was okay. That was a slide.”
For the unversed, Marry Poppin Returns starred Emily Blunt alongside Lin-Manuel Miranda, Ben Whishaw, Emily Mortimer, and Dick Van Dyke among others.
