Check out Taylor Swift dropping signs in her 'Alchemy' for beau Travis Kelce
Taylor Swift is currently dating NFL player Travis Kelce
In the penultimate tune The Alchemy off her new album The Tortured Poets Department, pop diva Taylor Swift, 34, sings about an unquestionable love; nevertheless, parts of the words to the ballad are causing controversy.
Swift, who is now dating Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, makes references to football and other sports throughout the song.
"So when I touch down/ Call the amateurs and cut 'em from the team/ Ditch the clowns, get the crown/ Baby I'm the one to beat," she sings.
Swift continues to sing about a former boyfriend, so it's unclear who she is talking about.
"'Cause the sign on your heart said it's still reserved for me/ Honestly, who are we to fight the alchemy."
The Grammy winner makes another sports allusion later in the song. Swift sings, "These blokes warm the benches/ We've been on a winning streak," clearly using a term that is frequently used in the UK.
The next line, according to some fans, might be a reference to her ex-boyfriend Matty Healy, who has previously been transparent about his battles with heroin usage.
"He jokes that it's heroin but this time with an 'e,'" she sings.
Then on the bridge, the singer sings, "Where the trophy? He just comes, running over me."
Since Kelce's podcast revelation last year, when he went to Swift's Eras Tour show and attempted—but failed—to meet her, the superstar has been dating the athlete.
“We started hanging out right after that. So we actually had a significant amount of time that no one knew, which I’m grateful for, because we got to get to know each other," Swift told Time in a December cover story.
