Joey Graziadei pacified fans’ concerns about his health condition after receiving multiple messages about the yellowish tinge visible in the whites of his eyes.
Taking to Instagram on Thursday, the Bachelor star revealed he has Gilbert syndrome, which is a common, benign liver condition that affects the way it processes bilirubin, a yellow waste substance in the body, according to Mayo Clinic.
It leads to accumulation of the pigment in skin and the whites of the eyes.
In the video, the reality star explained he was first diagnosed with the condition in high school after being sick for “about a week and a half”.
High amount of bilirubin was detected in his blood after doctors ran some tests, indicating issues with his liver. However, major conditions like hepatitis were ruled out after further examination.
"At the end of the day, I am told that I am healthy," Graziadei assured. "It's something that does affect the whites of my eyes, giving them that jaundiced appearance.
“It's something I want to pay more attention to going into this year. I want to ensure my health is optimal,” he shared. “But I wanted to provide some background and reassure you that to my knowledge, I am healthy."
Joey Graziadei is currently the main star of the Bachelor Season 28 that airs Mondays at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
