Wonder Woman 3's fate hangs in balance despite Gal Gadot's insistence
James Gunn and Peter Safran reportedly have no plans to develop a third Wonder Woman film
Despite Gal Gadot's affirmation of a third Wonder Woman film, the DC execs seems to give no heed to it.
As per reports, Gadot’s Wonder Woman will not be seeing light of the day in the reboot DC Universe anytime soon as James Gunn and Peter Safran have not laid out any plans for a third installment of the female superhero series as of now.
The Israeli actress first updated fans on the fate of the film series in an interview with ComicBook.com while promoting her upcoming Netflix film Heart of Stone.
“I love portraying Wonder Woman,” she said. “It’s so close to and dear to my heart. From what I heard from James and from Peter is that we’re gonna develop a ‘Wonder Woman 3’ together.”
Gadot reiterated the claim in a recent cover story for Flaunt Magazine, revealing the co-CEOs of the superhero franchise personally assured her.
“I was invited to a meeting with James Gunn and Peter Safran,” the actress shared, “and what they told me, and I’m quoting: ‘You’re in the best hands. We’re going to develop Wonder Woman 3 with you. [We] love you as Wonder Woman— you’ve got nothing to worry about.’ So time will tell.”
Wonder Woman first made its DC debut in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice before leading her own two standalone films in the previous years.
Wonder Woman 3 had been confirmed to be in the works before Gunn and Safran took over the leadership of DC Studios last year, prompting director Patty Jenkins to exit the project.
