Why cry over spilt milk?

This refers to the article, ‘Supporting the Syrians’ (February 3) by Philip Barton. While the noble efforts of the Western community in rehabilitating Syrian refugees are most welcome, would it not have been better not to create these tragedies in the first place?

Is it not a fact that by invading and interfering in fairly stable states like Iraq, Libya and Syria, the Western world and some Muslim countries have created the mess the region is in?
